Hey Matt. Welcome to BYC. Clarification for me please:
we also gave them some men vitamins and minerals in their water
What kind of vitamins/minerals did you use?
Orthopedic problems associated with hatching can be caused by at least 3 issues. These are the most common:
Improper incubation temps.
Poor nutrition of the breeder flock.
Genetic abnormalities.
Did you have any chicks from this hatch who did not have issues? How many eggs did you set and were they in an incubator or under a hen? what was the source of the eggs?
If incubator hatched chicks, you should calibrate your hygrometer and thermometers before setting eggs again. If the eggs came from your own flock, get some multi-vitamins into the breeders (including the roo) for a few weeks before collecting hatching eggs. You also might increase their protein. And, finally, before hatching eggs again, read all of "hatching eggs 101" in the learning center before plugging in your incubator. There's a wealth of information in that lengthy compilation of articles. I read it every season before plugging my bator in.
I wish you the best with your little ones, and if they do not come around, the kindest option may be to cull them.
