I have only ever hatched out 2 ducks in my life. The first one I had seemed healthy, walked funny for about half a day and then was fine. This one is acting as healthy as can be, trying to walk all over the brooder, but something is not right with his legs. They seam as though they may be spaced too far apart, at least one foot might be turned inward a little. So the poor little guy is trying to walk and run around like the newborn chicks but he keeps falling on his face. Has anyone else had anything like this happen before? Will he grow out of it?

i would search on this forum for duckling leg problems. i know some have taped the ducklings legs together. i have seen quite a few threads with this problem. sorry your duckling has it too. hopefully you can find a solution and start correcting it early

I did a little research and I'm trying the bandaid. I just have no idea how it could have happened. He had wire in the bottom of the incubator and pin shavings in the brooder. I hope it works. I saw where some people just put the bandaid on and left it till it fell off and others kept bringing the legs together a little at a time. What did you do?

I have never incubated and hever had it happen. But i have just seen lots on here who have had it happen.
Sorry i cant be of more help. From my research it seems it just happens sometimes from how the develop in the egg.
It may not have been anything you did at all.
Sometimes they just come out deformed or with something wrong. Which is sad but not uncommon from what i have seen.
I hope the bandaid thing works for yours

Please let us know how it works out. While I've never had the problem, others have. Your results can help others make more informed decisions.

Fingers crossed for your baby!
