We just had 11 baby ducks hatch 2 days ago and the last one to hatch has not been able to walk at all. His one leg is locked close to his body and wont extend while the other crosses over the first leg to help him scoot around!! Is this a niacin deficiency or is there something else going on? Also if it is a niacin deficiency can I give the boosters needed to all the babies or will it cause them harm?

Thats what I was afraid of. Thank you. Is there anything that could help him?

You need to make sure he can eat and drink, including getting to the food and water. If you can move his limbs into the right position you can split his legs/feet. At two days old it might not work.

I've been taking him out every so often throughout the day and giving him food and water and letting him eat/drink as much as he wants to make sure he is eating and dr im drinking.

I've also put him in warm water to have him swim hoping it might help. It's only for a minute or so and I make sure he stays warm after and that he doesnt catch a chill. It also helps him get clean because he cant do it as well as the others.

We also tried splinting the one leg that he can move (thinking that was the problem leg) and it didnt work to well so any help with making a splint is greatly appreciated!!!

But how do we help him get rang of motion back in the other leg?

How do I change a video on my phone so I can post it on here?

If you can feel behind the leg that’s locked ( might be hard to do) but if the tendon is slipped you maybe able to manipulate it back into place. Look up slipped tendon. This may not be the cause but it seems to happen quite often.
