2 different hatches in the same incubator (question)

ok.Mine is going to be a little more than that apart.
Glenolam, thanks for the pics. So you didnt use a egg turner. You put all the eggs in. I like the idea of just misting the ones that are suppose to hatch. THe only concern i have. The chicks do move around alot and move all the other eggs around. I am afraid that they will kill the other eggs from banging each other...What did you do. ?Did you take them right away. ?

I waited until the chicks were dry *enough* to take out. I didn't take them out right away, but didn't wait until they were all fluffy either. In the cage I put the hatchlings in I had a towel that helped them dry off more. I did wait until I had at least two or three chicks, that way the humidity stayed in there as long as possible.

You can always keep the incubator in a bathroom as I did and run a hot shower while you are moving chicks - this will help the humidity as well.

The chicks definitely moved the duck eggs around and I was concerned as this was my first time mixing hatch dates, but it all worked out in the end. Your main concern, to me, is to get the chicks out soon enough, but not too soon.

I also learned that if you keep them in a dark room they'll be a little quieter and won't roll the other eggs around as much.

Someone else put the eggs not due in individual egg crates just until the first batch hatched. Being propped up helped the eggs from bumping each other with all the shoving the chicks were doing.
