2 ducks brooding on same nest, will they co parent?

They may do fine and if any eggs haven’ t hatched when one gets up hopefully the other will stick to the nest And finish the hatch.
She was casually sitting with my primary mama, then today she fully comitted. Ironically the first duck who started this whole broody cycle is still trying to collect a clutch outside of the barn

They can sure be nutty! I have a muscovy that is 9 yrs not even sure she has laid this year and a few days ago swore she was broody. Thankfully it was over today. They can really be nutty.

i was 100% not going to put up with broodies this year and like @WannaBeHillBilly caved. So I left her some eggs in the barn to keep her from nesting outside and started a broody mess.
Yes, broody nuts can be very convincing!
My half broody Pommes Duck plays the evil dragon every morning when i come into the duck house. She has collected all five fake eggs and pretends to sit on her nest, just until i come inside. Then she plushes up, hisses and spits fire at me - she would, if she could. I need to make a video of her, it is hilarious. After her scene she runs out and spends the whole day outside.
The other half broody is Pompom Duck, she sits every night together with her sister on the eggs, but runs out every morning with the other's and is no longer broody until the evening. Here is Pompom standing guard over her sister:

Two real broodies on one nest can be wonderful or a total disaster! - You need to watch closely when hatch day approaches and be ready to intervene. Are all the eggs supposed to hatch at the same day?

Yes I went in and gave her fresh eggs once it became clear she was fully broody. Before she was only sitting on the nest part time. And I’ve been removing extras daily. So I hope they are all going to hatch close together.

The after a day her sister started sitting with her longer and longer. Now she won’t get off either. I think she just started by laying an egg on the nest and got sucked in. I was wondering if I should try and give her her own nest but I really don’t need a million ducks....

@Beaglegal how did it work out with the two broodies?
I too have two ducks sitting on one nest, viciously defending their claim. As far as i know they are sitting on all the wooden eggs that were once distributed in the duck house… But as i cannot check the content of the nest without risking my fingers, i don't know for sure what is going on under them. During the last couple of days there were suspiciously few eggs in the collection basket…
The two girls take turns to go outside to bathe, eat, drink, stretch and poop. One duck goes out, the other one play's the role of the fire spitting dragon.

If you don’t want ducklings you take the eggs away tear up the nest. They get over it.

Yes I am having a similar division of labor among my girls. When I check the nest I have to chase one off because they are never both off the nest. Mine are pretty mellow, I use a branch to nudge them off and then they stand by and watch while I man handle their eggs.

Mine have 2 more weeks to go to hatch day and I’m still debating if I should drive one off before hatching or let them try and co parent
