I have just cracked open my first egg that came from August.
Its actually the second one she laid. This is my first time so Im asking of anyone can explain the black spot?
Second question
I washed two of her eggs to male a cake with.
After washing I noticed that her eggs appear to have a couple small speckles.
What does that mean?
Will her eggs continue to be this way? :)

Either way Im fine,just curious.
The pics of the unbroken egg are one with no flash to show the speckles and two with flash to show the coloration blotches on her egg.

I am anxious for feedback

Thank you all

The broken egg, it looks like a blood spot or possibly a meat spot. Sometimes a tiny blood vessel can break during the formation of an egg, especially with new layers, the blood goes along with the yolk and albumen and is captured inside the egg. It's harmless, you can scrape it out and eat the rest of the egg if you wish.

The specks may stay or not - she's a new layer, so likely it's just extra pigment on the eggs.

Someone may have to correct me:)
But no, I think the inside of the egg would be white even if she is an olive egger. The color is applied in the shell gland. If you were to take one of the eggs and it was just laid, wash it, the dye will come off.

There are some breeds, I do believe the inside is colored, but I "think" it's a blue egg layer like an Araucana but I could be totally wrong! All my breeds lay brown or white.
