I'm 99.9% sure "someone" is a 9 year old Easter Egger. I only have two mature hens, and only one has a red comb at present. I have a pullet with a red comb but she is only 4 months old, so I feel like she's too young to be laying.

Eggs are long and skinny. Before these she laid a couple small but normal shaped eggs and a couple shell-less eggs after not having laid for a couple months. I thought she was just winding down the end of her egg laying life.... now she's laying about 2-3/week but long and skinny eggs. The most recent egg is the most torpedo like in shaped. They are about normal length, but not as wide as a normal egg. When cracked open, the shell is a bit thin but they egg looks terrific- big orange yolk. Only in the picture did I notice they have a bit of a speckled appearance-- in person they look pretty normal albeit a little pale blue. (I think at her age she's running out of ink)

No other health issues or concerns, she's doing really well for her age. Her friend who is also 9 is not laying at present. Comb is a bit pale and she appears to be going into a molt.

Any ideas what's causing this change in the shape of her eggs?

At her age it is amazing she's still laying. I find the older hens are more prone to wonky eggs. My guess is it takes longer for the egg to move through the reproductive tract, which can elongate an egg.
I agree. She only lays for a little bit of each year. She laid well this winter after I switched to foods she liked better... then paused, now laying again. Her buddy since day old chicks lays a little better/more often than she does. The are amazing old ladies!
