2 eggs at once???

So is it possible for a young first-time-to-lay hen to have 2 eggs laid at once? We have one, possibly 2, BA hens and this morning, just inside the door going out to the run, were 2 squashed eggs. One was very thin and rubbery, the other had a thin but "crispy" feeling shell. They were right together. Could they have come from the same hen? If not, than the 2nd BA that was identified here as a roo is actually a hen (hope, hope, hope

)

I just wish they would use the nesting boxes

. We made them more private, changed out the straw to shavings and have golf balls in a couple and a couple empty. Running out of ideas

I have a pullet that laid 2 eggs every 3rd of 4th day for her first few weeks of laying. The first would be completely shelless, the 2nd, a thin "crispy" as you say shell. so yes, it can happen.

Once in awhile my girls lay on the coop floor or run and i just think its an accident. I think the nest boxes are suppose to be about 18 inches up from the ground and most use straw instead of shavings. Keeping them in their coop and run and not letting them free range could help use their nest boxes.

With the soft shells be sure and give them oyster shell and laying feed. Hope some of this helps.
