Hi all-
I have 2 hens (BSL’s birn in March) & 1 roo that have a coop/ run to themselves. I had the roo in the house for a few days bc of a sore foot. I put him back with his girls yeaterday morning. The 2 girls each laid 1 egg yesterday. They lay slightly different colors so I can always tell the tan ones are Lucy & the peach ones are Thelma. Lucy lays every single day. Thelma typically lays about 5x per week.
This morning I went out to clean & found 3 eggs! 2 were from Lucy, 1 from Thelma. I just went out again to close their run door for the night & decided to look in the nesting box & THERE WAS ANOTHER EGG! This one from Thelma.
Is this more common than I have been led to believe? Could being reunited with their roo have something to do with this? Is this a sign of a reproductive issue? I have heard that BSL’s from hatcheries are prone to those. Thank you!
