I can see a lot of movement in one of the eggs but still no embryo, obviously there's a duck forming I just can't seem to see where, the other one has no movement but the egg hasn't developed a smell or anything so I'm just going to keep the lid shut and Fingers crossed...
With my chick eggs there has been times when I cannot see the embryo but I can see the vascular development. Sometimes the embryo is just a shadow in the darker yolk field due to it's position in the egg. Sometimes all I can see is the eye and it's just a darker shadow.
I'd say don't panic. Wait 12 or 24 hours and recandle and then see if you can make out any distinct sign of the embryo. I think sometimes they like to hide just to make me nuttier than I am normally.
Today is day 14 for my eggs. We go into lockdown on Saturday but I'm not going to be surprised if I have pips on Saturday or Sunday.
Today is day 10 for me, I have not been as "hands" on with this batch so I guess I am feeling somewhat guilty and that's taking over my rational thinking. Just have days where even checking on them is a task so I haven't seen their progress as much as I did the others
Missed a few days...sorry to hear about the pic line being so painful.
Hoping the c-line is better. Lucy, you look great!
Love those call ducks!
Named my duck trio Morris, Mattie and Maggie (better than Pinky, Tiny and Deux).
They are breeding now and egg laying should be in a few weeks.
Research states one drake to 4/5 females. Will be working on increasing the ratio.
Hey Lucy! I candled a couple of my eggs tonight just to check things. Today is day 13.
Egg #2
You can see the embryo (I think) much clearer on egg #1 then on egg #2 but the vascular development is very clear on both eggs along with the enlargement of the air cell.
I was able to see definite movement in both eggs. DH used his Lumix camera with a 50 year old Pentax spotmatic lens in 50 mm and a shutter speed set at 15 sec. He suggested increasing your light source.
Greetings my dear friends, I haven't been on here in a few days (ok maybe 1 day but it feels like it's been forever) so I wanted to let everyone know how things were going with treatment and of course the eggs in the Bator.
I candled the eggs last night and both embryos are getting big and moving like crazy!!! We should have some ducklings in about 2 or so weeks, I was also able to save an egg that my very own Lucy duck layed (something destroyed the others) and that one is also in the bator and I am praying that it's fertile!! We shall see tomorrow
And lastly , treatment will continue next week once my immune system and body can handle it. Went to the Dr. this morning had blood work done, a chest x-ray to confirm that I have phemonuia, and got 2 shots to hopefully get this all under control. I'm meeting with a Oncology nutritionist on Friday to discuss foods to eat to maintain weight during treatment ( I lost almost 10 pounds in less than 2 weeks) things are coming along at a snail's pace.. I hope everyone is doing well.. I was able to get out today and enjoy the peace and quiet while hanging out with my ducks! Duck therapy always helps

It was exactly what I needed despite feeling kind of crappy. Just being outside with nothing but my thoughts, my ducks, wild flowers to pick and a nice breeze blowing was way better than anything a Dr could have given me to feel better.
