Two of my guineas appear to have lost the use of one leg, with symptoms beginning about a week apart. They hop about on one foot, and hold the other off the ground. The first appears to be improving, albeit very slowly. The second is doing much more poorly. Within a day or 2 of presenting symptoms, it has become lethargic and very weak. They do eat and drink. Both guineas never came home the night before I noticed symptoms, respectively. I have isolated them.

I suspected a leg injury in the first one, but when the second came hobbling back today, I'm thinking disease. What caused this? What should I do?

Any other signs of injury on their bodies? I am wondering if the reason both birds didn't return home the night before they showed up hobbling, was because they had a run-in with something (probably raccoon) that made a grab for them by the leg (probably after they had flown into a tree to escape the raccoon in the first place).
