Hens are funny about their nesting locations. Problem I had with mine is I always used hay in the nest to cushion the eggs, but since getting rid of my goats haven't had any. I used large wood shavings and the hen wouldn't even go back into the nest. So after removing all of the shavings, she finally returned to the eggs. Which I guess was a good thing, so they couldn't eat them and get impacted or anything. I have two that will sit in the nest together but then I have to keep track of the eggs to hatch because my crazy production blacks will get in the nest as well and lay eggs lol.
