I have an amish built, raised (off the ground) coop.
Tonight, when I went out to check on the girls..........2 of them were MIA!
The coop sits inside a huge, fenced, covered and electric hot-wire protected run.........and there is no way for them to get out of this run unless
I let them out. There were no signs of predators either.
We had about 15 inches of snow today here in NJ, and it's windy, but not real cold (I'd guess it's about 28 degrees out?)
I took out my flashlight, and found my golden comet and BCM huddled together, in the far corner under the coop. They are on dry ground, and
look quite alert......they are totally protected from the wind, and they do not appear to be ill.......
but I cannot reach them.
I'm thinking they didn't like walking in the deep snow......and went under there to get away from it?
They don't know I've shoveled an couple paths for them, and they have full access to the coop via the pop door, should they choses to join the others inside!

What's up with this?
Will they be ok if they stay there all night?

Silly chickens..........................

Ours like to hang out under the coop too. We try to lure them out with scratch. We've even used polls to help coax them out. If you do that, make sure you don't hurt them... I think they'd probally be fine under there, but you'll all sleep better tonight if you get them out of there. good luck!
