Quote: I can understand why they are so precious and what I love is so friendly right off the bat. Or the 2 we brought home last year were. Keep their brooder at around 85* first week then drop the temps 5* each week there after till they are able to be in around 70* They need crumble for feed to start off either water fowl crumble or chick starter if you can only get chick starter then buy some Brewers yeast and add to their feed chick starter doesn't have the extra niacin water fowl need and they can become lame if they get deficient in it.Brewers yeast add 1 Tab to 1 cup of feed keep them on this till at least 10 weeks old. this is when they are growing the fastest. This can be Brewers yeast or nutritional yeast but not baking yeast. If you have brooded ducks then it is basically the same. if your going to keep them in the wire crate I cover the sides with card board or something to help keep the warmth in. are you using a heat lamp? I don't know what temps are where you are but here we are frigid and even inside my house is only 68* and having the sides wrapped will help keep them warm. wrap all aside but the front and keep them out of drafts. They will grow fast so I'd be looking for a new brooder now so they can move up as soon as they need to. They will have to be feathered in before they can move outside unless you plan on using heat lamp or your in the tropics. I put a stuffed animal in with my 2 and they cuddled up to it like it was a third sib, it was so adorable. Please post pics often I love to watch them grow. oh and forgot to add if you feed anything other than starter they will need grit .I just put it into a flat saucer and mine ate it as needed.
