2 mallard duck eggs found!! help!

My puppy brought home 2 undamaged mallard duck eggs 2 days ago, both of which were warm upon arrival. We have a pond, and after she brought them home we went down there to the nest, and there are more eggs, and it isn't hidden well (which is common I've heard.)

I have them both in a shoebox with a heating pad and a bunch of towels (so they won't cook.)

I know they were alive when we first got them, but now I'm not so sure if they are. I've held them up to a light like your supposed to, but with both eggs you can't really see much.

They are both a dark tan color, and fit in my hand... supposedly they are mallard duck eggs.

So my question is,
Will the heating pad keep them alive?
Are they dead (how can I tell?)
and well....

What should I do!?

I'm confused as to why you did not just put them back in the nest. That is what I would suggest, even now. The mother mallard will take better care of them then you can. If they are dead, inside she'll just abandon those eggs once all the other ducklings hatch- nothing lost, really. It happens naturally too.

So if it was me, I'd take those eggs, put them back, and then keep the puppy close by until the eggs hatch. Once those ducklings are mobile there shouldn't be any further problems.

Well...

I wasn't the one that went down to the nest, my mom and younger sister did.

She was insisting I look up information on how to incubate them because I guess the dogs (or something else? I don't know?) ate the rest of them, or maybe they were perhaps moved? Anyhow, we have the 2 remaining ones.

So we can't really put them both back.

I hate to say it but you will have to do something with them there are 2 major facts here one they most likely wont hatch and if they do wont survive and 2 its more then Against the law to have a Wild animal of any kind even a duck in your possession im not being mean but please be very careful with the choices you make.

I think marrard eggs are blueish and smaller then a chicken.I use to work at a wildlife rehab and yes some wildbirds are protected and some are not and can be kept as pets.You just need to call a rehab or wildlife place and ask. I want to say that if they were mallard it might be okay because you can buy wild marrard at the coop or through the mail.I read an article in backyard poultry about hatching egg in a electric frying pan.You need to keep the egg over 90 degrees and something about humidity.turning them three times a day something about letting them cool for alittle bit each day up to the 19 day when you should be able to here them.I have never done this I read it in one of my magazines.

I'm amazed that a puppy could bring 2 eggs and both undamaged...wow.

My Standard Poodle stuck her head into a grassy area arond near my pond late in the evening and later I saw her licking an unbroken egg. I wish I knew where the nest is, but it is overgrown and dark, now
Looks like the Mallard egg photo. Called wildlife center but couldn't get an answer. Is there any way to incubate with a light bulb? I do have a meat thermometer....Hate to just toss it.
