This girl has been in the house 3 weeks now but I don't feel like we're making progress. She's on poultry cell and extra B12, scrambled egg and scratch and peck feed. She eats well and drinks and poops.
At first it was her right leg straight out in front, then it switched to the left, now it's back to the right and the left is somewhat functional. Her right foot is like a noodle. She can't put any weight on it at all. The left leg shoots out to the side but I can tuck it back under her without pain. She tips forward when she eats so I hold her so she doesn't fall forward because when she loses her balance she flaps around and cries because it hurts.
She chatters, purrs and makes all the right noises except when she's in pain. She likes to be held, and when I talk to her she chirps back.
I made a band out of a bra strap that is above her hocks but it might be too slack, I don't want to tighten it if it's the wrong thing to do.
I made a sling, which she hates. I made a bed out of pipe insulation noodles, towels, non-slip mat etc. She doesn't like that anymore either. She's in a plastic tote with a bath towel wrapped around her and kind of tucked underneath her body to take pressure off her legs. She seems perfectly happy there except it's a little hot.
I'm at a loss. I'm willing to go the distance, but not if it's hopeless. I'd like to give her something for pain, just to give her a break but I don't know what that would be. Please help me!

What was she like the first 5 weeks of life? Did she walk normally, on her hocks, or have any issues? Do you think she may have been injured by another chicken or a jump with a bad landing? Poultry Cell has b2 riboflavin, but you could give her 1/4-1/2 tablet daily of human super B complex, which has more riboflavin and all of the B’s. B12 is just one of the B vitamins. Riboflavin deficiency is what I would treat. If she walked normally for the first month, then an injury or vitamin/mineral deficiency, or Mareks might be a possibility. Mareks usually shows up a little later, but it can possibly show up at 6 weeks. I am not a fan of scratch and peck type feeds, because the chickens can pick and chose what bits they ear. That could lead to a deficiency which is not usually the case with feeding a uniform chicken crumble or pellet feed.

She was fine as a chick. One day I noticed her having trouble but I waited a few days before deciding to act. Her legs were fine to palpate but now she hollers. She sits all day which doesn't help. She was vaccinated for Marek's and the other seven are fine. The b vitamin thing is very frustrating. Off of other advice I bought poultry cell AND a B12 liquid. They've been getting nature's Best Chick crumble and the girls outside get both. I'll get her back on the crumble and check out the b's!

I highlighted the b vitamins to save you time. Now I know riboflavin is B2. The human super b I'm looking at have a lot of other vitamins mixed in. How many milligrams should I look for?
