2 Mystery Pullets - Golden Cuckoo Maran?? Brahma?? Help please!

Its been 3 weeks and still no change on that first bird. No Crowing, no comb development. And the comb is not bright red as would be typical of a Rooster. I am still holding out that it may be a weird hen. I guess I won't know for sure until it crows or lays an egg. I have it in now with a huge, stately Golden Cuckoo Rooster, and there has been NO disagreements between them. Thought putting it in with a roo would bring out the rooness of the situation. I was wrong. :-) Thanks for all the replies.

Number One looks like my two chicks who are BO over BR, except where yours is red, mine are golden...

Yes, there is definitely a very similar look. Do you know yet if your chicks are hens or roos?
I went out and looked at it very closely today, and it is bigger...and the legs have whitened. I thought that was strange. I didn't know legs turned colors. So they are a more grayish color now, which is more in line with some of the breeds we've discussed. I have had late blooming roos before, but I am still not totally convinced that this IS a roo.

Someone suggested the Speckled Sussex Rooster, and I'm not ruling that out either, there are some similarities... more so now that its' a bit older.

Will keep you all posted.

Can you post new pictures of your birds? They can look very different in three weeks time. Not sure what your first one looks like other than rooster. The second one looks SLW to me too but can't tell if it's boy or girl without a better picture of the comb, but I didn't see any wattles so hopefully pullet.

I'm not betting on roo either for #1. I think it's likely a Barred Rock crossed with a Rhode Island or New Hampshire Red. Unless it's really young, I don't see definite rooster signs. I have plenty of girls with bigger combs and wattles. Speckled Sussex aren't barred, and that bird is. They don't have yellow legs either, they have white.

Pretty bird! I want one!
