We were excited that two of our ducks built nests and decided to sit.

Then, all nine ducks decided to lay in those two nests, so we have been pulling out the new eggs every day.

Today, four ducks are sitting on the two nests.

I don't think the newcomers are just casual sitters either - they all gave me the evil eye.

So, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Two of my ducks decided to start setting in the same nest, so I did some research. This is what I found out: ducks setting in the same nest often happens when they are kept in close proximity with each other - in the wild, they would fan out to raise their ducklings. A caution: I read that many times two ducks set in the same nest, the mothers will fight over the ducklings that hatch, often resulting in the ducklings getting trampled to death, so keep an eye out when they're almost ready to hatch.
