Hey all, brought home a Polish chick and a silkie chick (couple days old) to our brood of four silkies at four weeks of age. The 4 older ones were much more rough to the Polish, and are much more accepting to the Silkie. They grab at the Polish's feet, when they do that I give them a lil bop on the head and they usually stop, at least for a while. They let the Silkie burrow under them for warmth and hang out by the food, but still give a peck to remind him of his place. The Polish is on the other side of the brooder. Thoughts?

Well I've taken the two worst offenders and put them in the "big boy box" with the 7.5 week old BO. Just got rid of our 12 week RIR roo same day. The two with the BO are fine enough, can get food and water, and evedrything seems to be more calm with the new babies now as well.

They probably didnt like the Polish because s/he looked funny... Hey whats that weird bird doing here, kinda thing. Sounds like you've got it worked out though

Chickens can be more accepting of birds that look like them. And Polish can get hurt by other chickens pecking at their tophat feathers thinking they're helping groom them

Good Luck
