My girlfriend and I are new members. We are getting married this year and moving to my 408 acre family farm. I did live there in a previous marriage. We currently live in her house with our pet rabbit named Buck! We bought her (yes her) at small farm animal sale about 4 months ago. The box said that the rabbit was a Buck so of course we didnt go down and inspect for ourselves. Took him to the vet for his first check up and to be neutered. They put him to sleep and waited, and waited and waited them them to drop down in order to perform the procedure. Turns out buck was a buckette. Anyways I know this site is about BYCs. We do have 1 little banty hen that lives in the pen with our Butler Bobwhite quail. We have about 200 northern bobwhites and 200 eggs in the sportman incubator. We did have 50 red and black sexlinks but sold them due to high cost of feed and the fact that we just put up 500 bales of horse quality hay near their pen and they wanted to keep messing on them so they had to stay in their pen, I wanted them to be semi free range to conserve feed cost but with the cost of hay I didnt want to ruin my familes profits with my chickens. Thats about it about us, we have total 1 chicken, 250 quail and 1 lopearred rabbit that thinks its a dog. I cant wait to get moved back to the farm and neither can my girlfriend. To be a danty 100 lbs soaking wet emergency room nurse she sure does work just as hard as I ever have on the farm and loves animals as much as me. As soon as I finish paramedic school we are going to take wild animal rehab classes. Glad to be a part of the forum. Looking forward to 2009
