2 of 4 chickens laying, when to introduce oster shell and layer feed?

So two of my hens are now laying out of the 4 (they are all the same age) and I'm not sure when I should change their feed to layer and when to introduce oyster shell. I have read horror stories of people doing it too early. I'm new at this and need guidance. Thanks

Put some oyster shell out. They will take it if they need it. They will be fine with starter crumble and shell on the side.

I dint know I was supposed to switch my girls to layer feed when I first started raising chickens and they did fine. I would go ahead and switch to layer feed and put oyster shells on the side for an option. I use Country Road layer pellets. Good luck and

If you plan on just feeding layer, do it now.
Layer feed alone should have more than enough calcium in it.
That's what it is designed for.

Put out oyster shell now, while you finish up your current bag of feed. Hopefully it is not medicated. Be sure it is at least 16% protein. (You can add your own dried egg shells. If the shells are not from your flock, (sterilize them first.) You can then make the decision whether to continue with a higher protein multi flock type feed, or switch to layer.
