4 pullets in this case 1 Bresse, 1 EE/Orp both squatting for like 2 weeks now, and 2 Ideal 236/Leghorns whom don't stay still long enough to see if they "Squat". All are laying age hatched late late Feb or early march. No cream eggs(Bresse) or white eggs (Leg/236), and it is anybody's guess what the Orp/EE mutt will push out. Orp/EE has bulked up significantly in last month, she is now larger than my alpha hen. Thoughts?.

Pictures would help, but squating behaviors often preceed laying by a couple weeks. How are the combs???
Pinkish red the 3 where they should are large enough to lay over, the EE/Orp mutt has A flat small comb as you would expect. They are not underfed that is certain given the weight gain of the mutt who is utterly/totally passive.

Pics as requested.

Nothing is jumping out at me, maybe another poster can discern more. I was expecting a really bright red comb in those laying, and I'm just not seeing ot - which could also be my eyes, and the color adjustment on my monitor. In fairness, I barely distinguish more than the 8 colors in a small box of crayons, plus "light" and "dark" versions of same.

mine started the squatting about 2 weeks before the first egg. As far as the comb, it was more the color than the size for my girls. once they got a nice bright red, the eggs weren't too far away. one of my girls has a pretty small comb, but her wattles, ears and little comb are a nice red color. Seemed like it was about 5-7 days after I noticed them brightening up that they started laying. Mine are not the same breed, they are a hybrid.
