one thing is can I leave this beak like this? whys this sucker so long? Does it have to be trimmed? also I've had 10 hens forever but never got 10 eggs in a day I think one or two may be non agressive roo possibly. I recently bought 6 chick's a while back threw them in the coop fox broke on and killed all the chick's but one. I let that Chick separate from the group in the garage until she got big so she wouldn't get whooped on. now that she's in there she is very skidding but now all of a sudden two of my hens that are original and very large are getting whooped on quite badly and I can't seem to catch them in the act. I even have a camera from my surveillance system overlooking the coop. Any suggestions? And no I don't want to take the newer Chick out. if I do have a rooster I would like to extract from the group. Whichever one is doing it is whooping up on the one with the huge beak.

The hen's beak needs to be trimmed so she is able to eat better. If left to grow it will get to the point the hen will starve. Most often this is caused because the top and bottom do not line up as they should so they don't wear down.
