Newbie here. Bought 5 pullets a little over a month ago. I was told they were 6 mos. old, but after talking to other people, I question this. They are just getting their tails in but are not laying except for my OE Bantam. However, I lost my Light Brahma pullet last night - have no idea why (think maybe a combo of issues including maybe an impacted crop) but right from the start she felt like skin and bones but seemed to have a healthy appetite except during the last couple of days. She just got weaker and weaker. Though I'm heartbroken to have lost her, I am now concerned about 2 of my other pullets who have diarrhea (although the Brahma who died did not have diarrhea). The pullets with diarrhea are my BB Red Old English Bantam and the other is my Silver Ameraucana. The Banty has been laying eggs almost everyday since I got these pullets and her diarrhea is very watery (soaks immediately into the ground. The Ameraucana's diarrhea is the color of caramel and seems mucousy - does not soak into the ground. I feed crumbles in their hanging feeder; throw a little scratch grain on the ground and give a treat everyday of very small chopped zucchini or lettuce and maybe some watermelon (no rind). A relative told me to give them meal worms which they did get recently - could this have caused a digestive problem? They come out to forage in the grass everyday now and sometimes I pick some of the grass tops for them on rainy days when they don't come outside. I clean their pen and coop weekly putting in fresh shavings and a bit of straw and they always have fresh water. I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light on this problem - I would hate to have this infect my Gold Laced Wyandotte and Cuckoo Marans as well.

Tape Worms, hmmmm, okay how would I know for sure and do you know how I should treat this?

i hope you dont lose any more birds

Verm-X wont kill worms. Bawwwk, take a fecal sample to a vet and have them look at it, they'll tell you what you're dealing with. It shouldnt cost much. Then, IF it is worms, they'll let you know what kind. Then come back here and let us know or you can PM me and I'll let you know which wormer to use if necessary.

Thx for the replies ... definitely have a lot to learn.
