I have 2 apple trees...can I give the apples to my chickens and.....should I mix shell with their feed or can I put it in a separate feeder? Thanks in advance :)

My chickens like apples; the riper the better. They seem to like the softer apples better than the green hard ones. Be sure they are not sprayed with pesticides or wash them.

I put the shell separate from he feed. When I mix shell with the feed a lot is wasted in the search for the "feed".
 
Apples are great for chickens. But its best to break or cut them in halves or quarters so the birds can eat them easily.

I feed my shell from 3 lb. hanging feeders. It can be mixed with feed as well, but don't put very much in or the unused portion will build up in the bottom of your feeder until the whole base is practically all oyster shell and the feed is unreachable.
