2 Roosters - 1 has to go

So I planned on having 1 Rooster - a Creme Crusted Legbar which I planned on selling some of the chicks from the hen I have to recoop some feed costs. But I ended up with a Buff Orpington rooster too.

So now - should I stick with the plan knowing I probably will be stuck with Cream Crested Legbar roosters.. Or keep the Buff Orp and hatch out a few eggs every spring for meat birds.

What would you do?

Two roosters could go very bad. They could get along great but then gang up on you and the hens or they could hate each other and fight all day and become even more aggressive. I don't personally like the idea of meat birds only because I can't handle it but if you want them buffs are perfect and pretty chill. If I were you I would keep the Buff and Legbar and if they start getting too aggressive just sell or use the buff for meat.

I usually wait to see personally wait for their personality and choose then you don't want a aggressive rooster

I would stick with the plan for now. You can always buy chicks for meat for a couple of years. And maybe at a later date you can make a new plan. Most of us never really stick with our first plan without modifying it later.

Do you have the space/facilities to separate the Orp roo and some hens? If so, why not. If not, get rid of him. Go with your original plan for a while. If you want to add a rooster later, they're easy to pick up. Plus, IMO Orpington's aren't the greatest for meat, I'd go with a Red or a Rock, some thing that matures faster.

I recently hatched 16 eggs, and 11 were roosters. I chose two that I thought would be good, and started isolating the rest for fattening up. One of the two started getting aggressive towards the hens, not letting them eat and such. I ended up with two roosters after all, one is retired and The one I raised is a real gentleman. I often had fights between the roosters, and they were damaging my hens. Id keep the meat bird, just because any eggs he produces have a use if they're roosters. All mine were skinny, they came from an egg bird.
