I have a flock that I am decreasing. I'll have 6 hens and 2 roosters. One of the roosters was added to the flock as a chick and is pretty low on the pecking order (most of the old hens peck him). Will that be okay since he's never been in competition with our original roo?

I would think think the older rooster will maintain control of the hens and the younger one will live slightly on the outskirts, until the older rooster passes. The older might occasionally chase the younger, as long as they don't join up and both mate the hens you should be fine, if they do you may need to get rid of one or switch them out occasionally.

How old is the younger cockerel?
Why do you need 2 cock/erels?
2 cock/erels over 6 hens/pullets can be problematic.

The males might get along.... they might not.
They might over mate the females..... they might not.

I'd have a place ready to separate one of the cock/erels......
....cause if/when it gets ugly, it can happen fast and the injuries can be severe.
