2 squatters!

How old are yours? What breeds? And how long after squatting did they lay? It's all very exciting!
AlleysChicks-
Our 3 all were 27 weeks yesterday. The first, a Black Australorp, squatted for 10 days before laying! Kept thinking, any day now! Second, Buff Orpington, squatted for only 5 days and then laid. The Easter Egger is very slot to mature, no comb or wattles yet, so it will be awhile for her to lay.
It is very exciting- still love finding the egg(s) nearly every day! Our Black Australorp laid 2 eggs- one right after the other last week! She had laid the day before and also the day after. The double egg day were both full size, normal shell and had yolks.
Never thought chickens would be this much fun!

Wow! Sounds like you'll be having a lot of eggs soon! All of mine had the same size and color combs. Then almost over night my black sex links comb got red, huge and flopped over! Wyandottes are so pretty! I wanted a few of those when I bought chicks but couldn't find them anywhere close to buy.
Love Wynadottes, love the coloring on the BLRW but these Blues are great!. Yup, their combs get huge over night although the squatting lasts 'forever' before they lay, so it seems. Was partial to Orpingtons, Wynadottes & EE/AMs included in my list :)

Yup that squatting happens 'way before' they lay, I keep checking all but you're right the anticipation is nail biting :) I had some EEs & they laid at 6 month but you're having to contend with the Winter weather. It is very exciting finding eggs and trying to figure out who laid what is another fun guessing game.

My Blues are hard to tell apart unless I see their combs & face, so far the 2 laying egg color's same & so is the same & size. The last 4 I had (2RIR & 2EE) was so easy as their egg colors were shades different; 1RIR darker than the other as with the EE plus I saw when they laid so I know who laid what color :0

They are fun!
