So first… my Muscovy girl Katniss, was having some issues laying her first egg. She was taking her turn on the nest and was just sitting there, shuffling around and making quiet little noises.
My oldest Pekin girl, Peep, went in the coop and just sat next to her. Peep used her bill to drag some more straw over around them and then nuzzled Katniss and sat next to her til Katniss laid her egg. It was too cute.

2. my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter spent the night with my wife and I last night. We were treating my girl Blue for her bumblefoot, and it’s doing so much better.

My granddaughter Katie loves ducks. One of the few words she will actually say is Duck. Every bird is a duck. She will come out with me in the morning when she is over and help me let them out of the coop and feed them and give them peas. So she was on the bed and she points at Blue and goes “DUCK!”

My wife says, “that’s right a duck. Her name is Blue”

Katie looks quizzically at her for a moment then goes “bwue?”

I go “yes blue!” all excited as we are trying to encourage Katie to use her words

She walked over and pet blue and was petting her as I held her and my wife Tayna wrapped her foot

Katie pointed at the foot and Tayna says “blue has a boo boo on her foot.”

Katie goes “AWWWWWWW” and reaches over to pet Blue again.

I go put blue back and then went back in the bedroom.

Now I gave katie a giant stuffed duck for Christmas. It’s bigger than she is and is super soft and she loves snuggling it and uses it as a pillow. It has a little tear just under one of its wings on the seam that i was planning of sewing this weekend.

As I walked in the room, katie had the vet wrap we use on blue’s foot and was wrapping her duck’s boo boo up with it.

It was too cute. I’m so glad she loves animals and ducks as much as I do
