They were all around 20 weeks. The turkeys were BBB that I was raising for Thanksgiving. The roos were Barred Rocks from my first broody hatch, and treating my hens something awful! They had not gotten aggressive towards me, but I only need one roo right now.
Two of the BBB hens were having real trouble walking, so I decided to butcher before November. They dressed out at 20 lbs each. (Not too shabby!)
It took about 6 hours start to finish, but I think I'll get better and faster the next time around.
I can't say it was fun, but it certainly is rewarding!
Unless we have more leg issues, the next butchering session will be mid November, and consist of 6 turkeys and maybe three roos... depending on who is who as they get older.
