Hello again,

I have a 2 week old EE, named Egg Drop. She is substantially smaller then the other EE's that she was shipped with. I got her from My Pet Chicken. All were the same size 2 weeks ago upon arrival. She is quite active and runs around with the 'big' chicks, but I never see her eating. In fact, she is almost always on one of the waterers. She just pooped and it is clear liquid, with no green or brown. She definitely does not seem sick, but I am concerned that she is not eating enough. I was wondering if she is possibly a bantam, but this clear poop tells me that maybe something is wrong.

I am new to chickens, so I am eagerly awaiting yor suggestions. I have learned oddles of info on this site so far, but I cannot find anything to help me with this little one. Thanks!

you can try to encourage it to eat my tapping on it's food bowl and sees if it runs over and pecks it. or putting the chick on the floor and scattering the crunbles on the ground and see if it gets curious and pecks at it. hope this helps;)

Because of her size, she may not be getting to the feeder. The other chicks may be bullying her,or pushing her aside. We had one that was smaller than the rest, and it was hard for him to get food- the others literally stepped all over him.
I dobelieve the clear poop indicates lack of food. I'd take her out several times a day, and give her a chance to eat by herself. You might try making the food into a mash, adding water to it to make it baby food consistency. A drop of liquid infant vitamins (for human babies, without the iron in it) may help perk her up.

Update!! I am happy to report that little Egg Drop is now 5 weeks old and is eating like crazy and feathering nicely, although still smaller in size to her sisters. What she lacks in size, she more than makes up for in spunk and attitude. I will not know for a while, but I think that she may just be a bantam. I am just so happy that she is a healthy little bird. Here is a pic I took last week with my phone, not a great shot.

Egg Drop is cute. And what a cute name! I am glad she is eating and drinking well, and acting as she should!
