Swollen chick

I have a 9 week old chick she’s been great very healthy the other 3 that where with her are still good, but she swelled up and passed away today. Could she have eaten something? She was still pooping but it was very white runny liquid. Thank you

Sorry for your loss. Was the body soft and puffy on one side? Was she swollen all over? Did she gasp for air? They can get injured sometimes and have a leaking air sac. Chickens have about 9 air sacs along their bodies. If you see it in time you can needle it and suck out the air with a syringe. But it may not have been that. Did you take any pictures? Your state vet might be able to do a necropsy if you keep the body cold, not frozen. But they may be closed until Monday am. Here is a list of all state vet labs to contact:

Thank you no she was bloated all over mid area. I checked her for puncture wounds and bites or scrapes. I checked to make sure she didn’t have pasty butt. She was acting like she didn’t want to be with the rest and hiding underneath the ramp I separated her as soon as I saw her like that, kept her in the house Thursday. She seemed like she was doing really good back to normal than yesterday. She was swollen again I picked her up. She looked like she was breathing hard then passed away as I was holding her. We have no Avion vets close to our house. We live way in the country. The closest one is almost 2 hours away and they told me before they really didn’t want to do that on one of my other chickens.
