The chick has a swelling above and to the side of the hock and is limping. I don't think it's a slipped tendon, I gently pulled the leg back and massaged the hock and it felt no pain. The overall hock on that side seems a bit bigger, and the swelling is above and the size of a pea. Idrained some of it, and it was a clear liquid. Sprayed with xenodine, put neosporin, and some arnica too. I isolated it. Eating and drinking fine. What could it be?

Anything else I can do?

There is no sign of injury, scab, infection. Just swollen. He was with a bunch of other chicks, don't know if he (or she) twisted something. But then wouldn't the swelling be around the joint and not above to the side? I was away a few days with someone else looking after them, so I don't know how long he's had it.

Any thoughts/tips greatly appreciated.

BTW - this chick fully recovered - i took her to the vet that week and they prescribed METACAM for 5 days, and sure enough the swelling went down and she went right back to normal.
