You are welcome. I threw together a bigger brooder this year. I made it out of pallets and hw cloth. It is working. Take a look at my thrown together article.

Chicks at this age mostly play and mock fight, not really old enough to establish adult pecking order.
It looks like your box is kind of small. Try a larger box so they have more space. Over crowding can cause problems at all stages of a chickens life.
Good luck with your chicks!
Pic of the aggressive one?Hello all! I’m new to the chicken raising and new to this site. So happy I found you all! Things I’ve read here so far have been very helpful. I have started with one day old chicks (6 of them), all girls. They are now just 2 week’s old. From what I read the pecking order is a natural step they go through and a harmonizing step as well. Well my question is, is it ok to put a pretty aggressive chick into a seperate container for a bit? Will that calm her down some ? She is sorta mean. I talk to her (all of them) handle them gently, and try to keep it fair, but now she runs up and pecks at me too. Is that normal? Should I randomly put other chicks in with her so they all stay familiar with each other? Appreciate any advice
Well, no, not positive. I was told at The feed store I use that he only orders hens and that he pays extra for them to be sexed. I was told though that it’s possible for them to make a mistake. How can I tell?
This one does it every time I reach in. No matter how slow I am, I talk to her, I try to ignore her sometimes and just go about my business, I’ve tried petting her (which after she pecks several times and hard) she sometimes lets me pet her, and even just pick her up and try to calm her down. Nothing seems to work. She flaps and charges the other girls raises her claws and pecks.I had a chick try play fighting with my hand about a couple weeks ago.
So if it’s a rooster, is it ok for him to be in with the hens and doing this to them? Is that normal? Thanks in advance! You can also try giving them some stimulation. Aka hang a blank/old cd from the lid. Creat a small pen they can go out into in the yard so they can scratch around.
I also think it could be a rooster.
Male 100%. Comb, barring, definitely a BR boy.its My pic here
