I have 2 batches in my bator right now.
1st batch set at 12am on the 15th.
2nd batch set at 12am on the 22nd.

Counting those set days as the first day(full 24hrs) Im on day 12 and day 5, respectively.

There werre a total of 18 eggs.
4 from the 1st batch I know are no good/clear, removed them tonight.
I removed the matching polish egg from the 2nd batch also just to save time.

I have 13 live eggs with bouncing babies rollin around in the older ones, tons of good thick veins in the newer ones.

I wish I didnt have to wait so long, Im so impatient.
These are backyard flock eggs, and Im very curious to see what I get, if anything!
The roosters are an EE and a polish, and the hens are BR, EE, Del, RIR, and BO(might be forgetting 1)

Trouble is, once these all hatch, my store-bought chicks will be turn-key, and Ill have to do babies all over again . . .
Shoulda planned this better . . .

Now that I gotta good candling light, I can see myself getting addicted to embryo-watching!

Wow, I just set another batch of 7 eggs from the biggest black australorps Ive ever seen.
The rooster was the size of a turkey!

I bought a few 6-month old chickens today from a guy and he gave me some hatchin eggs from those huge BAs.
The pullets I got are a SLW, a EE, and a younger turken!
I always wanted a turken!

I hope these eggs hatch and I get the giant BA like he has, they were enormous.
He said if they dont, to call him back and he will give me some more.

The guy had a ton of various poultry runnin around, hes gotta be a member here, I forgot to ask . . .

I changed the title, because today is the 1st day of a 2 week vaca for me!

This is gonna be an exercise in patience, as I really have nothin to do but relax and watch eggs and chickens.

Is there such a thing as turning the eggs too much?

I usually forget to turn them at all, now I wanna do it every 10 minutes . . .

The bummer is, its sposed to rain all week, starting tonite.
I love the rain, but I just finished all the building and painting and stuff for the chicken yard, and now they gotta stay in.
I covered my tractor with a tarp, and made an awning for them.
The brooder/coop for the babies just got the last coat of paint, so now its safe from the weather.

I guess Ill just leave the tractor door open and they can decide if they like the rain or not.

When I say "they", I mean the 2 older pullets I had to get so I can watch some chickens in the new yard, my little chicks just dont wander enough for me yet.
I have never been known for my abundance of patience . . .
