We ordered 25 (got 26!) chicks from Rochester Hatchery. We asked for pullets and one cockerel but they unfortunately were back ordered so we opted for just pullers. I am wondering if it's too early to tell if maybe we got an accidental rooster due to the 90% sexxing guarantee.

I will update with better one on one shots but here is a few pics in general --- close ups of some chicks that are a little bigger and attitudier than the others.

My first year of chickens so sorry if I seem ignorant-- I am!

All extras tossed in as packing peanuts are cockerels. They do whatever they can to get rid of cockerels. You have at least one, the extra. Any others due to inaccuracy will be slim chance. That 10% inaccuracy is an exaggerated number to make up for statistical small samples. It's closer to 1% inaccurate so that's 1 in 100 they got it wrong but somebody gets that cockerel. What happens if it's in a 10 chick pickup? It's covered by the 90% accurate disclaimer.

I grabbed 4RIR pullets from the pullet bin, and 1 roo from the roo bin I had him banded so I knew who he was, he ended up being a she, and one of my pullets ended up being a he. our feed store isn't the greatest but they are competent in sorting the chicks into the correct bin. not all hatcheries have that 1%, our feed store gets theirs from estes hatchery.
