We got this Green Queen from Meyer Hatchery as a free “meal maker” layer chick. She’s got muffs and 5 toes.

We are really hoping she’s a pullet as she’s calm and friendly and we love her fluffy face.

She had big legs as a small chick but now is the same size as our Brahma chick who is definitely a pullet.

She also doesn’t have an obviously red comb like this other 6 week old we have who is very obviously a rooster (bright red comb and wattles, tiny tail, fights).

But her tail feathers look kind of pointed and swoopy at the ends and her feathers have an iridescent sheen which makes me worried she’s a boy. :(

If anyone has experience with Easter eggers or Green Queens let me know what you think!

I don’t think this breed has noticeable wattles and I think an all-black rooster is possible.

This is from today, with pics of all of the chicks. The partridge Cochin is definitely a rooster (he also acts like one!).

The black one has tail tips that go into a point instead of rounded which made me suspicious. :/

She appears to be a pullet. As I said before, tails are not indicative of gender in this first batch of feathers
Thank you! I think the other ones are probably pullets too, even though they have some pink combs. I appreciate the reply.

They’re all really nice although the young rooster has been chasing some of them and grabbing/holding onto feathers! It looked like he was actually trying to mount the black one. They were doing a standoff and then he chased and grabbed her back feathers. Would he be trying to mount this young?? Seems so early, haha. He could also just be sparring? Anyway just thought I’d mention it since I had to grab him twice yesterday to get him to calm down and stop chasing.

I know you’ve probably figured it out for certain by now lol. But I had one that had pointed tail tips too and I was so sad that she was prob a cockerel but she lost those feathers then started laying a week and a half ago! Did yours end up being a pullet?

Hi, yes turns out she was a pullet! She just started laying her first eggs and they’re greenish gray. She’s a beautiful chicken and a real sweetheart. She loves to be held.
