Hi, this 2 week old Salmon Faverolle has had a swollen eye for about 5 days now. I have treated with neosporin ointment applied to the eye and terramycin in the water, but no improvement so far. Still eats and drinks ok. Other chicks with it have no problem. Anyone have any idea what caused this and what to do to treat it?

I don't know what else to do for it except maybe quit the ointment and use a warm cloth on the eye several times a day. The ointment might not be letting it breath(the eye). Since it is not working, the warm compresses alone can't hurt. Sorry I wish I had more! i hope it gets better soon!

Steve, it's possible that bird is getting pecked by the others, I think I'd separate even if you a day or so. I've used Murine eye drops on nearly every animal I've ever had, cautioning though that it must not have the specialty additives like the antihistamines. Baby need multivitamins or electrolytes too, and I'd avoid the ointment for a while and let it breathe. Keep the litte one warm, perhaps a little warmer than his age requires with the opportunity to move out of the heat. Baby is eating/drinking? What about droppings, and is vent clean?
