We have a two year old Buff Orp. she molted about 3 months ago. We haven't seen an egg from her sense. She eats really good Our White leghorn is in the middle of a molt and Long Island red was laying and now has stopped too. Any Ideas??

My buffs only lay for a little while, probably a couple of weeks, at a time. I have no idea why? They also go broody a LOT, I'm sure that has something to do with it. I'm still new to chickens, but I seem to see my hens lay much less regularly after molt, maybe that's usual?

Egg production typically drops in winter months due to less light. Also as chickens age they lay fewer eggs or might stop laying altogether, or Red Star quit laying eggs about 5 months ago. Her first two years were just about non stop daily eggs. Hens will also stop during a molt and when broody.
