today i saw my hen on the nesting box for a couple of hours, and later when she came out, i went to get her egg and there was no egg. so i looked at her, she was sort of standing almost hunkered down with her neck and squating a tiny bit... not pecking at the ground just standing still, shed move a few feet and stand again real still and with her neck scrunched down.

then i saw literally only the insides of an egg, oozing out of her vent. no shell, no latex shell even, just yolk basically. im not sure if an egg broke inside her or what this could be from??? can someone please help me answer this question.

right now she is seperated from theo thers to keep them from pecking at her vent
any suggestions or thoughts?

I have had hens lay shell-less eggs. I've seen them lay only yolk and a little white. They are pretty much back to normal after the egg comes out. If she is still acting off I'd say it's possible that an egg broke inside of her. Others have written about putting a gloved finger inside a hen's vent to search for broken egg shell and trying to remove it, but I've never done this myself.

I'd just keep a close eye on her and if she's not better in the morning maybe consider inspecting her to see if there is egg shell in her vent. I know it can be deadly so just keep a close eye on her.

thank you, in the morning when i checked on her i found she had released a latex broken shell. well popped i should say. so it must have broken inside and later she let out the latex part. thank you for the idea with the glove, in case of something like that again it may be a good idea.
