Hey guy i just built a small incubator last night out of a styrofoam incubator and a bottle lamp kit, accurite themomter and also a small glass from a picture frame
it currently has a temperture of 100*f and a humidity of 32 I used a container for washing powder as a tray for humidity it works great!! I am setting 6 eggs toay

My Acurrite thermometer took a dump near the end of incubation. I think the humidity got to it. You need a thermometer with a corded sensor, so you can keep the the thermometer outside the bator.

Thanks will take note of that next time!

None at all I am just rasing my light bulb up and down to regulate temperature

I did it similarly, but I used a light dimmer switch. I got a 70% hatch from my coolerbator. The next time I would have 2 lights instead of 1 and also use a digital temp control, I think it's called a STC-1000 along with accuritte temp/humidity probe sensor. My egg turner was a teeter toter type setup, I just raised and lowered without opening the bator. It's amazing how nature finds a way to procreate.

That's genius I will add a dimmer switch next time, Also I got the eggs yesterday and she gave me two 1 day old chicks they are silkie and banty mixes.

Hey guys here is an update the eggs are doing fine it is now day 2 and the current temp and humidity is 99* f and 39 humidty

Any update? Curious how your hatch went. I made one very similar to this last night. I know I need to, but I am worried about leaving the light on all night. I put the white rubber piece over the metal that is fitted in the styrofoam, but I am worried about it getting too hot and possibly causing a fire. Darn anxiety!
