Up for auction is 20 straight run, day old Speckled Sussex chicks. SS are beautiful birds that are very docile and mine are great layers of light brown eggs. I have been getting an egg from all of them almost everyday. Extra roos make a great table bird. They were the prefered meat bird in England 100 years ago.
My roo is an impressive fellow. He is very big and does a great job looking after his girls when free ranging. As soon as I let them out, he leads them straight to the woods, where they scratch and forage all day. He does a little dance for the ladies before mating which is a trait I look for in all my roos. I have read this means they have been breed well.
Here is my favorite hen. She comes running to anyone she sees, and has to say hello to them. My SS have become my favorite breed. I showed them at the fair last year and placed second out of 15 other birds.
Buyer pays actual shipping cost. I am in Ohio, so the further you are away, the more it will cost to ship. Pick-up is an option, and I would consider meeting buyer within a reasonable distance. I am NPIP certified (#31-426) and AI monitored. Chicks will ship Monday, April 26th.
I may include more than 20 chicks providing I have a good hatch. I have 30 eggs set.
