Heya.
So I’ve had these 2 from about 8-9 weeks and have had many moments of being certain they are pullets to going to down rabbit holes of reading about hackles and saddles and sickles that makes me less sure.
Just interested if anyone that knows more of what to look for would like to weigh in. The dark one (a jubilee orp or speckled Sussex or some sort of mix) is the one I’m a bit worried about today, a few days ago it was the light Sussex 😅
I can’t have a cockerel and I love them both so hoping they will lay instead of crow but am letting my impatience get the better of me!

Pullets!
The one looks like a Columbian Wyandotte and the red one, looks like a RIR x SS cross.

Thanks so much guys for the input.
I know you just have to be patient, and I was trying to be, but the thought that I had to maybe give one or both up because my instinct was wrong was starting to make me feel sick in the stomach because I’m so attached! I guess I needed some reassurance 🤭

Look like pullets to me!

Two pretty pullets!

Looks like two pullets : D Never had a sussex but if they're anything like other types of mille they should get more spots as they age ^^

Both are female and should lay soon! :)

It‘s actually a Light Sussex. The main difference is the comb which is a single. The other looks like a full Speckled Sussex but lacking some white, probably just hatchery quality. :)
