I had not thought about the total eggs until this post. I had to go peek at my grand daughter's ledger. She does have a few more chickens than most, but she and her cousin sell them to the local cafes and any extras to our friends. After all the bills are paid they each take an allowance of $50 every 2 weeks and the rest is put away for college. After peeking at the books, they will need an accountant this year to figure the taxes. Her ledger reads:
Jan. 11904 eggs 32 dz.
Feb. 11116 eggs 33 dz.
Mar. 12741 eggs 34.25 dz.
Apr. 12480 eggs 34.66 dz.
May 12989 eggs 34.91 dz.
June 12810 eggs 35.58 dz.
July 13330 eggs 35.83 dz.
Aug. 13299 eggs 35.75dz.
Sep. 12880 eggs 35.77 dz.
Oct. 12564 eggs 33.77 dz.
Nov. 11747 eggs 32.63 dz.
Dec. 11958 eggs 32.14 dz.
She didn't total the numbers, but I did 152153 eggs.
I never realized they sold that many eggs. Or even that the chickens had laid that many. I did know that she was buying a lot of feed and that the DW spend about 2 hours each day delievering them. I am going to have to get a loan from her for a new rototiller.
These 2 kids will go far in the business world. The oldest girl is 13 and her cousin is 8.
Why didn't I learn to make and save money at that age. I think they listen to Clark Howard to much.
