All I did was touch the edge of the blade on mine and it cut my finger good.
They are really sharp so any one who has never had one, PLEASE keep them away from children, PLEASE.

My dad did thats with a rotary blade once, but they didnt sew it back on, it was too dusty, because the blade was rotating on a table saw at the time.

EWWWWW thats yucky!! I dropped rotary on the table and it bounced back and hit my knuckle and GUSH!!!! I bled all over the place!!!

and I think that the dull blades make it more likely to cut yourself while pushing the thing. You have to use more "force" to cut thru the fabric and if you slip you cant control it cause you are putting so much force to cut into the tool! I would recommend turning the blade over or changing it... but that is MHO...

I went to wal mart today and got a bunch of fabrics!!! I hope no one minds having a fairly simple piece!!! I dont wanna tax myself......

ok good luck all

oh one other thing If I get on a roll and wanna send out more than one square can I and I will just wait to get the ones from who ever is suppose to have me the next month? I guess I mean if I get more than 1 done can I send it to my next months reciever before the next month?

Okay, before I go hog wild in the fabric dept, what sort of texture am I looking for? Not too thin, not too thick, not shiny, cause they snag..... what else are my key choices?

100% cotton, with no texture on it. If you have an actual fabric store, they often have a special section of "quilting" fabrics, usually arranged by color etc. This doesn't mean it's the only place you can or should buy fabric at, but it will show you what sorts of fabrics are used.

It should be a sort of good medium weight. if it's too tight a weave, it's hard to get the needle through for hand quilting, and if it's too loose, it won't wear well enough.
That's part of what deterimed the weight originally I think. Hope that helps!!

Yes, thank you, that does help. LOL In that big bag of church fabric, that hopefully I can claim tormarrow,

, There's a real heavyweight fabric, and it has a kind of texture to it. I wasnt sure if I could play with it or not just yet. lol
