Hi! So, I just wanted to share a funny idea and story! My middle school friends and I thought up this great idea, the Chicken Olympics!! Two of my friends had chickens, so we thought it would be fun to have the broods compete against each other! I honestly thought the whole idea was just a joke, put one of my friends actually went home and asked her parents if they could host it, and they said yes! All the girls in my grade were invited to come join in on the fun! We each decided on three chickens to bring, deciding which ones to take by looking at the list of events we had thought up. The events were: Fattest Chicken, Leis Necklace Race (we put a lei around the chicken's neck, and the chicken who stayed with it on the longest won), Craziest Breed, Sharpest Beak, Fluffiest Butt, Loudest Chicken, Softest Feathers, Funniest Walk, Skinniest Chicken, Long Distance Race, Short Distance Race, Prettiest Feet, and Highest Flyer. There were 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals to fit around the chicken's neck after each contest (There were only three chickens competing in each event, so they each got a medal). The girl in charge of posters made a cute poster with the Olympic symbol, except for the rings were eggs instead. There was a betting board, where the girls would all put their sticker next to the name of the chicken they thought would win that event. If they were right about who would win, they would get a starburst! One hour before the party started, the three girls, including me, that had chickens came to give their chickens spa treatment. To get ready for the Prettiest Feet contest, we painted the chickens' nails, and scrubbed and washed their feet! The chickens surprisingly loved getting their feet washed off, and they didn't mind one bit when we painted their nails! Finally, people arrived. With a microphone, the rules for voting and betting were explained. Then the olympic song was played, and we led the chickens around the yard, waving the banners for our team. Then, the events began. After everyone placed their bets, they came back to the display table and looked at the chickens, or went and watched the chickens (this was for events like funniest walk, or loudest chicken). For example, if the event was Softest Feathers, the girls would come and feel the feathers of the three chickens competing, and would then write down their vote, and stick it in the box. Once the votes were counted, the medals would be announced at the microphone. As soon as all the events were done the ceremonial song was played again, and the overall placements were announced, and the receivers got little trophies made from a gold, silver, or bronze egg hot glued to a thin toilet paper roll, and placed on top of a base. Of course, I brought home the gold!! Sorry, for writing a novel
