2016 Gosling Hatch-a-long

Omgosh thank u for responding this is there first day but all four have moving aircels so I have them in egg carton upright and am scared to tilt them because the aircels move with the tilt, is that ok? And also is it ok they are big end up and in a egg carton? I want to lay them down but them aircels seem really unstable so I'm scared thank u for your response

It doesn't sound very good if the aircell moves? Do you mean it actually moves? The aircell should stay in place at the big end of the egg. It's moves(wobbles a bit) because of the yolk too.
I lay my eggs on their side. I don't know if it's wise to leave them in an egg carton? I'd say let them be on their sides.
Also I think putting the eggs in the egg carton with the big end upside down will effect the aircell.
Hope it helped!

This is how my eggs are put before they go in the incubator in a shoe box with a tea towl.

Hi thank u for your reply, the giggle like they are loose one is stiffened up this morning and I played it on its side the others are in a egg carton with aircels facing up right, they are mode sturdy today but I was thinking in a few hours on my next tilt I will just lay the rest flat and take a chance, I tilt them side to side every hour to help them not stick air cell seem to stay on big end mostly when they lay flat a little on the side but at the big end is that ok?

Lay them on the side and they be pretty much good to go.
Never ever put the large none pointed part of the egg upside down because that can be fatal past day 15 of incubation.
Remember to mist the eggs.
I start misting my eggs at day nine and mist them every two days ;)

Thank u so much I have played them down one aircel is stable the others kinda move but only on the big end they don't go to the center of the egg or nothing just go out of the trace I made when they were still in the carton thank u for your help, do u know when I should check them and see something to know they are fertile? And also is it ok the aircels moves outside of the traced line as long as it stays on the big end of the egg? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I'm not hurting them, oh and also I have a still air incubator is 100 degrees a good temp to keep down by the eggs it's staying at 98 to 99 degrees and 50 to 55% humidity? These are African grey goose eggs.

Getting ready to set some eggs in the bator. Going to steal some eggs from my girls nests. Set some duck eggs too. Not sure what I'll get from the ducks. I just took in a flock of 20 ducks that were headed to an auction. Mostly Pekin, some of the females are crested, other ducks are brown and black.

I ask this question a lot, but what do you all do with your babies once they're hatched? Meaning, do you keep them, sell them or give them away? I'm up to 10 geese now (from 3) and 50+ chickens! My ducks relocated themselves to the next-door-neighbor's about 4 years ago because she has a better pond, but they still come here daily for extra food. I've retired my incubator and have to snatch eggs away from the broody hens and geese, which makes me feel like a criminal. I broke down and bought 6 chicks last night to put under 3 persistently broody banty-X hens; two hens freaked out and the third gratefully adopted all the babies. Roosters are another issue altogether, as I have 10 of those. I've sold chicks and goslings from unintentional hatches in the past and really don't want to put myself or the birds through that trauma again, but some of these ladies are determined to be moms! The really ironic thing is that the minute I decide I'm going to pare down on the birds one of the elusive hens shows up with a dozen little furballs!

You have to be as persistent as they are, I am not letting my geese hatch this year and I didn't last year. I only have 4 and I love them dearly but I don't want any more geese no matter how cute they are when goslings. I have a very hard time letting go once something hatches here.

Tbh the aircells shouldn't really move places. Usually at day 5-7 you can see if they are fertile or not but at day 10 it is most obvious.
You will see a red dot with red veins all over the yolk.
Beginniners should always keep incubating at day 10 to be 100% sure they aren't fertile.
Temperatures should be 37.7 degrees Celsius and I don't control my humidity. I've two trays of water in the incubator and that's it so I don't look at the humidity.
I'm incubating African goose eggs too and they are at day 4 today ;)
