Hello everyone! Last September I went to a local swap in Southern Virginia. I had brought about 15 roosters with me, all of which I had hatched that spring and was trying to get rid of. While I was there, I spoke with some other people who had had the same issue. One lady hatched 18 Cream Legbars - All of which were roosters. Another, 21 English Orpingtons, 3 of which were pullets. Since it had been such a wet year (at least in VA), I couldn't help thinking it had something to do with that. Did any of you have an over-rooster-fied 2018? Also, did any of you from Mid or Western USA, or Canada have similar issues? Anyone have speculation on why it was a Roostery year? Hopefully 2019 isn't as bad for us! :fl

I ordered eggs from Idaho. All three that hatched are probably roosters. So I bought three from my feed store that were supposed to be female. (They guaranteed a 80 percent female rate) at least one is a confirmed rooster, and I have my doubts about another one. They came from Texas.

I bought three more and I fully expect more roosters. And the eggs I have hatching. I thought I was just cursed.

Last year I had 8 male to 7 female and 5 male to 4 female. Both of those hatches were late in the year. I'll be interested to see what I get with a spring hatch. I don't normally hatch in spring, but I want to do some test mating before I do my fall setting.

My silkies are broody and I have about 10 eggs under them total. I'm hoping that they'll be at least a 50-50 but I have a feeling that it won't go so well.....

Meyer Hatchery in Polk, Ohio has a 100% gender accuracy policy. If you get a rooster that was ordered as a hen (doesn't include free extras), they'll refund you as long as you report it within 10 or 22 weeks, I don't remeber :D
