2021 Chick Order

As for the frizzles, they are certainly growing into their looks.

Look at the comb on this dude! And his curls are so nice..... But he's the wrong color for what I want 😢 but he's the only one that has a giant comb 😣

2 updates for the price of 1:

First update: I got eggs. Lots and lots of eggs. I think 24 (haven't looked since I'm in class, just know it was a decent weight and there are 2 egg cartons in the bag. I bought 8 Ayam Cemani and 8 Mosaic eggs, and then the seller said she would add extras including seramas if she had any. So.... anyone know anything about hatching seramas?

Second update: 2 of my IDEAL silkies (both of them grey too, at this point I may just be keeping my 2 buff piggies) have weird toes. I'll get images tonight when I get home, but one has them fused almost completely into one toe with 2 nails and the other had one toe that continues growing and one that looks like it never grew past like hour 12 of life.

*Sigh*

I'm thinking my grey silkies have a mystery daddy. I have 4, and 3 have something wrong with them cosmetically. One has no extra toes, one has one toe with 2 nails (and no crest at all) and the other has one large back toe, a teeny extra toe and what looks like maybe a nail trying to grow out of the large toe.

I didn't bother to get a picture of the one with no extra toes since he really just looks like a Cochin with blue skin when it comes to his feet.

I circled the toes I'm talking about though on the other two. Not the best picture, but they're just so Tiny

I've read that they tend to hatch earlier than most other breeds--maybe they run out of room inside those tiny eggs. And of course the chicks are tiny when they hatch. (No personal experience, but I keep looking at pictures and thinking of getting some...)

Okay, thanks. Should I put them in lockdown a day early then? Or plan to move everyone at the normal time unless I see a pip?

I don't know. You could try searching the forum, and read old threads, to see if you can find anyone else talking about it.

Or maybe start a new thread in the incubating forum, so the incubation specialists will notice it :)

That's the plan. Waiting for a conference call to end before powering the beast on since it loves to scream until it's up to temperature
