I trimmed my silkie’s head feathers once, I was TERRIFIED i was going to poke his eye out sadly, the only polish I have ever had died before her head feathers really became a problem, but I probably would have trimmed them too.

Yes I am always freaked out teimmimg them. One person told me they use their husbands chippers to do it and they worked great.

Entry #1 Aunt Olive my Easter Egger Hen.

I had to edit to change her name. This little hen is the subject of a disagreement between me and my mother. I named her Owly at 2 days old and still call her that. At 5 months old my Mother and Grandmother changed her name to Aunt Olive. I showed mom this picture this evening and told her I entered the contest. She replied with "You had better have called her Aunt Olive".

Uh, that is Aunt OWLive!

Check out BYC's FaceBook page. There's an amazing pic of a hen in a blue nesting box. Her four chicks are perfectly stair-stepped alongside her. It's not mine, but it NEEDS to be in the calendar ... or at least submitted. Heck, I'd buy the calendar just so I could frame that one photo to display in my house!
